Product Overview

Flexible Installation for Industrial Machinery Monitoring

The 990-05-50-03-00 continuously measures shaft vibration using a compatible 3300 NSv proximity probe system. Internal electronics process the eddy-current signal and transmit a proportional 4–20 mA output for machinery protection, condition monitoring, and predictive maintenance.

The transmitter also includes a PROX OUT diagnostic connection for accessing dynamic vibration and gap voltage signals during commissioning and troubleshooting. A built-in Not OK/Signal Defeat circuit drives the output below the normal operating range if a probe or cable fault is detected, helping prevent false alarms.

Key Features & Benefits

Integrated Proximitor® Electronics

Signal conditioning is built into the transmitter, eliminating the need for an external Proximitor® module and simplifying wiring.

0–5 mils Measurement Range

The transmitter measures 0–5 mils peak-to-peak (0–125 μm pp), making it suitable for a wide variety of rotating machinery applications.

Dual Mounting Flexibility

Option 03 includes both DIN rail clips and bulkhead mounting screws, allowing easy installation in new systems or retrofit projects.

Standard 4–20 mA Output

The loop-powered output integrates directly with PLC, DCS, SCADA, and other industrial automation systems.

Diagnostic PROX OUT

The dedicated PROX OUT terminal provides dynamic vibration and gap voltage signals for commissioning, diagnostics, and predictive maintenance.

Rugged Industrial Design

Fully encapsulated electronics provide excellent resistance to moisture, vibration, dust, and harsh industrial environments.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the 990-05-50-03-00 used for?

It continuously monitors shaft vibration and converts the measurement into a 4–20 mA signal for machinery protection and condition monitoring.

2. What does the "05" option indicate?

It specifies a 0–5 mils peak-to-peak (0–125 μm pp) full-scale vibration range.

3. What does the "50" option represent?

It indicates compatibility with a 5-meter 3300 NSv transducer system.

4. What does mounting option "03" mean?

Option 03 includes both 35 mm DIN rail clips and bulkhead mounting screws, offering flexible installation methods.

5. What does approval option "00" indicate?

It denotes the standard version without additional hazardous-area approvals. Installations requiring hazardous-location certification should use an approved variant such as 01, 05, or CN, depending on application requirements.

6. Which probe is compatible?

The transmitter is designed for use with a Bently Nevada 3300 NSv proximity probe and matching extension cable.

7. What power supply is required?

The unit operates from a +12 to +35 VDC two-wire loop-powered supply.

8. Can it connect directly to a PLC or DCS?

Yes. The standard 4–20 mA output is intended for direct integration with industrial control systems.

9. Does it provide diagnostic outputs?

Yes. The PROX OUT terminal provides dynamic vibration and gap voltage signals for maintenance and diagnostics.

10. Which machines commonly use this transmitter?

It is widely installed on compressors, pumps, motors, fans, blowers, turbines, and other critical rotating equipment requiring continuous vibration monitoring.
