Product Overview

Reliable Vibration Monitoring with Bulkhead Installation

The 990-05-50-02-01 continuously monitors shaft vibration using a compatible 3300 NSv proximity probe and matching extension cable. The processed vibration signal is transmitted as a standard 4–20 mA output, allowing easy integration into plant control and condition monitoring systems.

The transmitter also provides a PROX OUT diagnostic connection for dynamic vibration waveform and gap voltage measurements during commissioning and maintenance. A built-in Not OK/Signal Defeat circuit drives the output below 3.6 mA when a probe fault or cable failure is detected, helping prevent misleading vibration readings.

Key Features & Benefits

Integrated Proximitor® Electronics

The transmitter combines signal conditioning and vibration conversion into a single compact enclosure, reducing wiring and simplifying installation.

0–5 mils Measurement Range

The 05 option measures vibration from 0 to 5 mils peak-to-peak (0–125 μm pp), making it suitable for machinery requiring a broader measurement range than the standard 0–4 mil configuration.

Bulkhead Mounting

The 02 mounting option uses bulkhead screws, allowing secure installation directly onto machinery panels or enclosure walls without requiring a DIN rail.

CSA Hazardous Area Approval

The 01 approval option provides CSA Class I, Division 2 certification for installation in hazardous locations where flammable gases or vapors may be present under abnormal operating conditions.

Diagnostic PROX OUT

A dedicated PROX OUT terminal provides dynamic vibration and gap voltage signals for troubleshooting, commissioning, and predictive maintenance.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the Bently Nevada 990-05-50-02-01 used for?

It converts shaft vibration from a compatible proximity probe into a 4–20 mA output for continuous machinery monitoring and protection.

2. What does the "05" option indicate?

It specifies a 0–5 mils peak-to-peak (0–125 μm pp) vibration measurement range.

3. What does the "50" option represent?

It identifies compatibility with a 5-meter transducer system consisting of a 3300 NSv probe and matching extension cable.

4. What does the "02" mounting option mean?

It specifies bulkhead mounting screws, allowing direct mounting without a DIN rail.

5. What does the final "01" approval option represent?

It designates CSA Class I, Division 2 hazardous-area certification.

6. Which proximity probe is compatible?

The transmitter is designed for use with a Bently Nevada 3300 NSv proximity probe and matching extension cable.

7. What power supply is required?

The unit operates from a +12 to +35 VDC loop-powered supply.

8. Can it connect directly to a PLC or DCS?

Yes. The 4–20 mA output is intended for direct integration with PLC, DCS, and SCADA systems.

9. Does it provide a diagnostic output?

Yes. The PROX OUT connection provides dynamic vibration and gap voltage signals for maintenance diagnostics and waveform analysis.

10. Which machines commonly use this transmitter?

It is widely used on compressors, pumps, motors, fans, blowers, and other rotating machinery requiring continuous vibration monitoring.
