Integrated Vibration Monitoring for Critical Rotating Equipment

The 990 Vibration Transmitter accepts input from a compatible 3300 NSv proximity probe, conditions the eddy-current signal, and converts shaft vibration into a standard 4–20 mA output proportional to peak-to-peak vibration amplitude. A dedicated PROX OUT connection also provides dynamic vibration and gap voltage signals for diagnostics and vibration analysis.

The transmitter features fully potted electronics for reliable operation in high-humidity and industrial environments and includes a Not OK/Signal Defeat circuit that helps prevent false alarms caused by probe or cable faults.

Key Features & Benefits

Integrated Proximitor® Electronics

The transmitter incorporates internal signal conditioning, eliminating the need for an external Proximitor® module and simplifying installation.

Standard 4–20 mA Output

The loop-powered analog output enables straightforward integration with PLC, DCS, SCADA, and other industrial automation systems.

Configurable System Length

The XX option allows the transmitter to be matched with either a 5 m or 7 m calibrated transducer system, ensuring measurement accuracy when used with compatible 3300 NSv probes.

Diagnostic Capability

The PROX OUT terminal provides raw vibration and gap voltage signals for commissioning, troubleshooting, and advanced vibration analysis. When using grounded AC-powered test equipment, the 122115-01 Test Adapter is recommended for signal isolation.

Rugged Industrial Design

Fully encapsulated electronics protect against moisture, vibration, and contamination, supporting reliable long-term operation in demanding industrial environments.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the Bently Nevada 990-04-XX-01 used for?

It converts shaft vibration measured by a compatible proximity probe into a 4–20 mA signal for machinery monitoring and protection systems.

2. What does the "04" option indicate?

It specifies a 0–4 mils peak-to-peak (0–100 μm pp) vibration measurement range.

3. What does "XX" represent?

The XX identifies the configured transducer system length, typically 5 m or 7 m, depending on the ordered model.

4. Which probe is compatible?

The transmitter is designed for use with the 3300 NSv proximity probe and the matching extension cable.

5. What power supply is required?

The transmitter operates from a +12 to +35 VDC loop-powered supply.

6. Does it provide a diagnostic output?

Yes. A PROX OUT connection provides dynamic vibration and gap voltage signals for diagnostic purposes.

7. Can it connect directly to a PLC or DCS?

Yes. The standard 4–20 mA output is intended for direct integration with industrial control systems.

8. Is it suitable for high-humidity environments?

Yes. The fully potted construction is designed for environments with up to 100% condensing humidity.

9. Does it include fault detection?

Yes. A Not OK/Signal Defeat circuit helps prevent false alarms caused by probe failures or loose connections.

10. Which machines commonly use this transmitter?

It is commonly installed on compressors, pumps, motors, fans, blowers, and other rotating machinery requiring continuous vibration monitoring.
